Lady Cats golf qualifies for state sectionals

The Woodland girls golf team finished fourth Wednesday in the Region 7-AAAAA Championship at Woodmont Golf Club in Canton.

Dalton won the region title, followed by Cambridge, Creekview, and the Lady Cats. River Ridge finished fifth.

The top four teams from the region now advance to the GHSA State Sectionals on May 2 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Locust Grove.

The Woodland team is comprised of Makayla Knuchel, Lauren Parramore, Elizabeth Nycum, and Meagan Taylor.

Knuchel led Woodland on Wednesday with an 84.

The Cambridge boys won the boys Region 7-AAAAA tournament, followed by Dalton, Creekview, and Sequoyah. The Woodland boys finished ninth and Cass was 11th.
