Cass boys tennis edged by Riverwood, open state as four seed



The Cass boys tennis team lost to Riverwood 3-2 in the Region 7-AAAAA third place match Wednesday at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta. The loss leaves the Colonels as the No. 4 seed from the region entering the GHSA Class AAAAA state playoffs next week.


In the loss to Riverwood, Eric Dunlap won 6-4, 6-0 at line three singles and the number two line doubles team of Logan Barrere and Reagan Barrere won their match, 6-2, 6-3.



Avery Cornett lost at line one singles, 6-4, 6-4 and Dalton Jackson lost 6-3, 7-5 at line two singles. The Colonels' top line doubles team of Seth Colton and Jacob McBrayer also fell, 6-4, 6-4.


Cass will open play in the state tournament against an opponent to be determined from Region 6-AAAAA. The Colonels will draw the Region 6 champion on the road.


The date and time of the match will be announced, but the first round must be completed by April 21.
