Seaman shuts down Phoenix
Sam Seaman came up big on the mound again for Adairsville as the Tigers defeated visiting Sonoraville Tuesday night, 2-0.
Seaman pitched a complete-game gem, shutting out the Phoenix and allowing only two hits and three walks. He struck out nine and Sonoraville allowed only one baserunner to reach third base in the game. The Tigers’ hurler also scored the game’s first run in the opening inning. He singled with two outs and scored on an RBI-double by Hayden Morrow.
Adairsville’s other run came in the fifth inning. Landon Howren reached on an error, Seaman was hit by a pitch, and Morrow walked to load the bags. Lane Griffith then delivered an RBI single up the middle for the Tigers’ two-run lead.
Chase Kirby and Ryan Gross had the only Sonoraville hits.
Maverick Curtis was saddled with the pitching loss for the Phoenix. He allowed a run on three hits with one strikeout in the first three innings. Hayden Bunch (2 IP, 2R, 0ER, 2BB, 1K) and Easton Gallman (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 3K) also pitched for Sonoraville.
Griffith finished with two hits and one RBI. Morrow had an RBI-double and drew two walks. Seaman and Justin Green also added a hit.
Sonoraville falls to 8-12 overall and 6-5 in Region 6-AAA.
Adairsville (12-8, 8-4) plays at region-leading Ringgold Thursday at 5:55pm.
