Canes tie Class 6A Marietta, 1-1

The Cartersville boys soccer team played Marietta High School to a 1-1 draw Thursday night at home.

The visiting Blue Devils were in the Class AAAAAA quarterfinals one year ago and provided great competition for the Canes as they prepare for the playoffs.

Marietta scored its goal in about the 20th minute on a penalty kick. The Canes came back with a goal in the 58th minute from freshman Victor Guevara on an assist from Efrain Milian.

Cartersville (9-3-1) plays at Woodland Friday (April 1).
