Lady Tigers remain undefeated; Tigers blanked by Mountaineers
The 7th-ranked Adairsville girls soccer team continued its winning ways Thursday night on a rain-soaked evening in Chatsworth, blanking North Murray 8-0.
The win moves the Lady Tigers unbeaten streak to 13-0 with an important home match with Sonoraville scheduled for Friday. Both teams are currently unbeaten in Region 6-AAA matches. The only loss of the year suffered by the Lady Phoenix was to Class 5-A Rome.
With the victory, Adairsville girls' head coach David Sexauer picked up his 100th win in nine years at the helm with the Lady Tigers.
Emily Collum scored four goals in the game. Chloe Cochran scored twice and added a pair of assists. Haley Pittman and Gillian Johnson also contributed goals.
Havyn Isaac recorded another shutout in net.
In the boys game, the Adairsville Tigers soccer team was shutout, 8-0.
On a rain-soaked evening, the Tigers struggled on the road without several regular starters recovering from injuries.
"We moved the ball okay," said Adairsville coach Kelly Abernathy, "but we couldn't capitalize on the shots we were able to take."
The Tigers will regroup for their next Region 6-AAA match.
"We need Spring Break to recover," added Abernathy. "Hopefully that will give us time to get healed up and ready for Ringgold. We need a win to make it into the region playoffs."
