Morrow sac fly lifts Tigers to walk-off win; Knights blank Colonels; Excel falls to Ohio team

The Tigers’ Hayden Morrow hit a sacrifice fly to left field Monday night, scoring Lane Griffith, to enable Adairsville to escape with a walk-off, 6-5 non-region win over visiting Armuchee.

Adairsville made the most of only four hits, but took advantage of six Indians’ errors.

Armuchee (2-13) took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning, but Adairsville responded with four runs over the next two frames to regain the lead at 5-3.

The visiting Indians scored twice in the top of the sixth to tie the game 5-5 before Morrow’s RBI ended the game in the seventh.

Armuchee reliever, Cole Phillips, was saddled with the pitching loss. He entered in the seventh and only recorded the one out. Will Phillips led the Indians at the plate with two hits and two RBI.

Sam Seaman, Justin Green, Drake Arp, and Dylan Hightower had Adairsville’s hits. Seaman, Green, Arp, and Morrow had one RBI each.

Kyler Pelfrey picked up the pitching victory with an inning and 1/3 of work. He allowed only one walk, no hits or runs, and struck out four. Taylor Whitley started on the bump (1.2 IP, 3ER, 0H, 6BB, 4K) and Orry Carter (4 IP, 2R, 0ER, 4H, 2BB, 5K) also pitched for the Tigers.

Adairsville (8-6) returns to Region 6-AAA play at home Tuesday (March 29) against Murray County at 5:55pm. They travel to Calhoun Thursday (March 31).
