Hodorff, Wimpy, and Yantis headline this week's update of local athletes playing collegiate soft
Former Woodland High School standout, Sydney Hodorff, has made an immediate impact as the starting catcher for NCAA D-III LaGrange College. Hodorff headlines this week's softball update for 'Athletes Beyond Bartow.' The freshman is currently carrying a .315 batting average through 21 games for the Panthers.
Reinhardt's Randi Wimpy also continues to scorch NAIA and Appalachian Athletic Conference opponents with her .435 batting average .804 slugging percentage.
Former Lady Cane and current Samford Bulldog, Annalyn Yantis, also picked up her first pitching victory.

SOFTBALL
BETHANY BALLARD — Armstrong State University (Jr., Cass HS)... had one plate appearance March 23 in a doubleheader sweep of Flagler College. Ballard has played in nine games and is 4-for-10 at the plate with one run scored and 4 RBI. ASU (24-8 overall, 8-2 Peach Belt Conference) plays conference doubleheaders at Young Harris (April 2) and Montevallo (April 3).
TAYLOR BRASELTON — Reinhardt University (Jr., Woodland HS) . . . went 2-for-6 with a run scored in a doubleheader sweep of Bluefield College (KY) March 19… was 2-for-6 with a walk and five runs scored in a doubleheader split at Union College (KY) March 25. Braselton has a .299 batting average through 22 games. Reinhardt (24-9, 5-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts conference doubleheaders March 30 with Tennessee Wesleyan and April 2 with Columbia College.
SYDNEY FLOWERS — Reinhardt University (Jr., Woodland HS) . . . went 2-for-3 and scored three runs in a doubleheader sweep of Bluefield College (KY) March 19. She was 1-for-4 and scored a run in the second game of a doubleheader that was an 11-0 win at Union College (KY) March 25. Flowers has a .211 batting average in 24 games for the Eagles. Reinhardt (24-9, 5-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts conference doubleheaders March 30 with Tennessee Wesleyan and April 2 with Columbia College. LACEY FRITZ — Southeastern Louisiana University (Jr., Woodland HS) . . . had a pinch hitting appearance in a 2-0 win over Incarnate Word March 18. Fritz has appeared in 18 games with four starts for the Lions. SLU (18-15, 4-5 Southland Conference) has a three-game, conference series at Sam Houston State University April 1-2.
BRIDGETT HAMPTON -- Walters State CC (Fr., Woodland HS) . . . made a pinch hitting appearance, delivered a hit, and scored a run in a 12-1 home win over Roane State CC on March 19. Hampton has a .231 batting average and has scored three runs in seven games played. The Lady Senators (19-4, 11-1 Tennessee Community College Athletic Association) host Spartanburg Methodist College for a doubleheader March 30, and host Cleveland State CC in a four-game, conference series April 1-2.

She was 2-for-6 with a homerun and scored twice in a home doubleheader sweep of Meredith College (NC) March 20. Hodorff went 1-for-4 with a walk and scored two runs in a doubleheader sweep of Judson College (AL) March 22. She had a double in seven at bats in a doubleheader split at Greensboro College March 25, and went 3-for-6 and scored twice in a doubleheader split at Averett University (VA) March 26. Hodorff has a .315 batting average through 21 games. LaGrange (12-11, 5-7 USA South Athletic Conference) entertains Methodist College (NC) and North Carolina Wesleyan in a pair of conference doubleheaders April 2-3.

HUNTER IRVIN — Reinhardt University (Fr., Cartersville HS) . . . appeared as a pinch hitter in the first game and as an outfielder in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Bluefield College (KY) March 19. She also appeared as a right fielder in the second game of a doubleheader at Union College (KY) March 25. Reinhardt (24-9, 5-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts conference doubleheaders March 30 with Tennessee Wesleyan and April 2 with Columbia College.
MALLORY JACKSON — Georgia Highlands CC (Fr., Woodland HS) . . .went 2-for-7, including a double with one RBI March 20 at South Georgia CC in a doubleheader split. She was 0-for-5 in a doubleheader at Motlow State CC (TN) March 22, and went 1-for-7 in a doubleheader sweep at USC-Salkehatchie March 24. Through 39 games, Jackson has a .208 batting average with two homers and 19 RBI. Georgia Highlands (19-25, 3-5 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) plays a doubleheader at Chattanooga State CC March 29 and hosts NCAA D-III opponent, Emory University, in a doubleheader April 2.
ASHLEY JORDAN — Georgia Highlands CC (Soph, Woodland HS) . . .went 0-for-5 in a doubleheader split March 20 at South Georgia CC. She scored a run in the second game of a doubleheader sweep at USC-Salkehatchie March 24. The Chargers’ outfielder has a .299 batting average with six extra base hits and 14 RBI through 42 games. She also has 10 stolen bases. Georgia Highlands (19-25, 3-5 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) plays a doubleheader at Chattanooga State CC March 29 and hosts NCAA D-III opponent, Emory University, in a doubleheader April 2.

Weeks carries a .423 batting average in 31 starts for the Eagles and has 23 RBI. Reinhardt (24-9, 5-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts conference doubleheaders March 30 with Tennessee Wesleyan and April 2 with Columbia College (SC).
RANDI WIMPY — Reinhardt University (Sr., Woodland HS) . . . went 2-for-5, scored twice, had a sac fly, and five RBI in a doubleheader sweep at Bluefield College (KY) March 19. She had an RBI single and a homerun, accounting for both Eagles’ runs, in a 2-1 win March 22 at Bryan College (TN). She also went 5-for-7, scored three runs, and drove home three in a doubleheader split at Union College (KY) March 25. The 2015 NAIA All-American leads the Eagles with a .439 batting average through 33 games. Wimpy has 23 extra base hits that include seven homeruns and 39 RBI. Her slugging percentage is .804 and her on base percentage is .516. LAUREN WOMACK — Georgia Highlands CC (Fr., Cass HS) . . .went 3-for-7 and scored one run in a doubleheader split at South Georgia CC March 20. She also scored a run in the second game of a doubleheader loss at Motlow State (TN) CC March 22. Womack was 2-for-6, scored a run, and had one RBI in a doubleheader sweep at USC-Salkehatchie March 24. Georgia Highlands (19-25, 3-5 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) plays a doubleheader at Chattanooga State CC March 29 and hosts NCAA D-III opponent, Emory University, in a doubleheader April 2.
ANNALYN YANTIS — Samford University (Fr., Cartersville HS) . . . picked up a pitching win and two, no-decisions in three appearances March 19-26. Yantis tossed 5 and 2/3 innings in an 8-6 home win over Manhattan March 19. She allowed five earned runs, five walks, and seven hits in the win. March 20 she worked four innings in the circle against Howard University, allowing a pair of earned runs on three hits and two walks. She struck out two as Samford won 11-4. In a March 26 win at Mercer University, Yantis pitched two innings allowing an earned run on two hits. She struck out one. She has pitched 15 and 2/3 innings in seven appearances with a 6.32 ERA. Samford (18-14, 3-0 Southern Conference) plays at Ole Miss March 29 and will host a conference, three-game series against UT-Chattanooga April 2-3.
