Tigers drop close game to Missouri club
The Adairsville Tigers lost to Jefferson City (MO) 3-1 Thursday in a matchup played at LakePoint in Emerson.
The two teams combined for only one earned run, but the Jays were more opportunistic. Jefferson City scored a run in the second inning and two more in the third to take a 3-0 lead that held up.
Adairsville managed their only run in the top of the sixth when Drake Arp reached on a fielder’s choice and later scored after Sam Seaman singled and the Jays’ center fielder committed a two-base error.
Jefferson City’s two-run second inning was the result of two hits and a pair of passed balls. Their third inning run scored following a double, infield error, wild pitch, and a ground out.
The Tigers committed five errors in the contest. Jefferson City had three miscues.
Four different players -- Tyler Bise, Grant Wood, Kade Feanks, and Hayden Hieschrogel -- had one hit each for Jefferson City.
Seaman had two hits for Adairsville. Justin Green, Landon Howren, and Hayden Morrow added one hit apiece.
Blane Meyer (6 IP, 1R, 0ER, 5H, 0BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher for the Jays. Logan Schmite (1 IP, 0R, 0BB, 0H, 1K) worked the final inning for a save.
Orry Carter (3 IP, 3R, 1ER, 3H, 1BB, 2K) was the tough luck losing pitcher for the Tigers. Taylor Whitley (3 IP, 0R, 1H, 2BB, 3K) pitched the final three frames for Adairsville.
The Tigers (6-6) return to Region 6-AAA play Friday (5:55pm) at Gordon Central and are scheduled to play at Armuchee Monday at 5:30 in another non-region matchup.
