Lady Canes, Canes handle LaFayette
The Cartersville High School tennis teams took one step closer Monday to clinching the top seed in their region tournament. The Cartersville girls blanked Lafayette, while the boys won 4-1.

2 — Ansley Thompson won 3-6, 6-2, 6-1
3 — Kenly King won 6-0, 6-1

1 — Kendyl Westmoreland/Jordan Ross won 6-4, 6-0
2 — Taylor Riddle/Kindra Woodman won 7-6, 6-4

1 — Matthew Slocum won 6-3, 6-1
2 — Davis Edwards won 5-7, 6-4, 6-1

1 — Russell Mathison/Ross Norwood lost 4-6, 2-6
2 — Juan Zazueta/Mason Andrews won 1-6, 6-2, 10-5
Both Cartersville tennis teams are 6-0 in Region 7-AAAA competition. The Lady Canes are 9-1 overall and the Canes are 7-3. They host Heritage-Catoosa Wednesday where a win clinches the top spot from the region heading into the region playoffs.
