Five Canes, Jones selected to PG all-tourney teams
Cartersville High School baseball players Elliott Anderson, Mason Barnett, Noah Daniel, Jacob Fowler, and Anthony Seigler were all named to the Perfect Game High School Showdown All-Tournament team.
Anderson (3-for-10 with a double and three RBI) and Daniel (6-for-14 with a double and two RBI) were chosen as hitters. Barnett (4.2 IP, 2H, 0ER, 3BB, 3K), Fowler (5 IP, 4H, 0ER, 1BB, 4K), and Seigler (7 IP, 5H, 1ER, 3BB, 6K) were selected as pitchers.
Cartersville, went 3-1 in the event played March 10-12 at LakePoint in Emerson. Sparkman High School (Harvest, AL) was the 14-team tournament champion.
Thirty-nine hitters and thirty-two pitchers were selected to the Showdown All-Tournament team.
Another Cartersville High School student, Brycen Jones (7 IP, 4H, 0R, 1BB, 11K), was one of 27 pitchers selected to the Perfect Game Academies Showdown All-Tournament team representing East Cobb Baseball Academy. East Cobb Academy went 3-1 in the 18-team tournament. Faith Baptist Christian Academy (Ludowici, GA) defeated Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Academy (Calgary, AL, Canada) for the 2016 Academies title. For Faith, it was their third consecutive Academies championship.
