Cartersville soccer teams shutout Gilmer

The Cartersville girls blanked region rival Gilmer at home Tuesday night, 4-0.

Kate Justus (4th minute), Claire Choate (17th minute), Marissa Mowry (28th minute PK), and Paxton Thompson (67th minute PK) scored the goals.

The Lady Canes (7-1 overall, 4-0 Region 7-AAAA) play at North Cobb Christian on Wednesday (6:30pm) and at Ridgeland Friday (6pm).

CANES 3, GILMER 0

The Cartersville boys scored three goals in the first half for a home, Region 7-AAAA shutout victory Tuesday night.

Osbaldo Senderos scored on an assist from Pedro Robledo to open the scoring. Robledo added a goal of his own in the 21st minute off an assist from Jonathan Cruz, and Edwin Betancourt scored on a penalty kick.

The Canes (7-2 overall, 3-1 Region 7-AAAA) play at Ridgeland Friday (7pm).
