Late rally not enough for Tigers




Adairsville rallied to score nine runs over the last three innings, including six in the bottom of the seventh, but could not overcome an early deficit in a 12-10 home loss to Armuchee Monday night.


Armuchee took a 6-0 lead after 1-1/2 innings and added three more runs in the fourth to lead 9-1. The Indians also added three more runs in the top of the seventh.


Adairsville scored a run in the bottom of the second to narrow the deficit to 6-1 and three in the fifth inning to pull within five runs at 9-4.


The Tigers out hit Armuchee (1-8) in the contest 11-10.


Drake Arp had three hits, two RBI, and scored twice to lead the Adairsville offense. Kyler Pelfrey (RBI), Orry Carter, and Justin Green had two hits each. Landon Howren added two RBI. Hayden Morrow had a double and one RBI. Hunter Hice and Lane Griffith each drove in a run.


Garrett Mishoe (2 IP, 6R, 2ER, 5H, 2BB, 2K) was saddled with the pitching loss. Taylor Whitley (1.2 IP, 3ER, 1H, 7BB, 2K), Carter (1.1 IP, 0R, 1H, 2K), Noah O’Kelley (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 3K), and John Atkinson (1 IP, 3ER, 3H, 1BB, 1K) all pitched in relief for the Tigers.


Adairsville (4-3, 1-0 6-AAA) hosts region opponents North Murray Tuesday (Mar 15) at 5:55pm and Coahulla Creek Thursday (Mar 17) at 5:55pm. The Tigers play at region rival Sonoraville on Friday (Mar 18) at 5:55pm.
