The City of Cartersville Parks and Recreation Department has a variety of offerings available for registration. These include Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instruction, Cartersville Cobias Swim Team, Gymnastics, and Tennis.
Lifeguard/WSI Classes
Do you need a summer job? The Cartersville Parks & Recreation needs summer lifeguards. Lifeguards and Water Safey Instructor classes are offered to all summer staff. You must be 16 years old to apply. We start our hiring process in March. For more information call the Megan Hix, Aquatics Coordinator, 770-607-6527.
Lifeguard Classes Have you ever wanted to be a lifeguard? Are you a current lifeguard? The class will include all the skills needed to respond to an emergency in an aquatic environment. Certification will be good for two (2) years, CPR for the Professional Rescuer is included. Ages: 16 & over Age control date: April 25, 2016 Fee: $150 ($70 for CPRD staff) Location: Dellinger Park Pool Registration begins: March 21, 2016 - (limit 20 per session) Class Dates:

WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Classes Each year the American Red Cross teaches more than 2 million children and adults to swim. This class trains you how to teach people to swim. After passing this class you will be able to teach: parent and child aquatics, learn to swim levels 1-6, and water safety presentations. Cartersville Cobias Swim Team Summer League
Ages: 6-18
Age Control Date: Age prior to June 1, 2016
Fee: $100 - April 11 - 24, 2016 $110 - April 25 - space available only + $20 non-resident fee (if applicable)
Season: May-July
Practice Location: Dellinger Park Pool
The Cobias is a competitive swim team, intended for those who, as a minimum, know the basic swimming strokes. While it is not a venue for learning to swim, it is one for improving technique, speed, endurance and competition. The Cobias is a Georgia Recreation and Parks Association summer league team. During the season there are typically five to six regular meets and a district and state meet. All swimmers regardless of skill level are invited to participate at the meets.

2016 Summer Youth Tennis Camps
These camps are designed to focus on developing fundamental tennis skills in young players ages 3-14. The fundamentals of the forehand, backhand, volley, overhead and serve, including proper grips are taught. Students also learn proper footwork, scoring, and general knowledge of the game of tennis. The instruction consists of dead ball (instructor feeding), live ball (students hitting with each other), on court demonstrations, match play (singles and doubles), games and fitness. Campers are grouped by age, fitness and ability. All junior campers will have a lunch and swimming break.
