Adairsville rallies for come-from-behind win at LFO
After several frustrating offensive frames Thursday night and on an evening when the Tigers left 14 runners stranded, the Adairsville baseball team exploded for eight runs in the final inning for a come-from-behind region win at Lakeview-Fort Olgethorpe, 10-8.
Orry Carter picked up the pitching victory in relief. He was one of four Tigers’ arms utilized.
Lane Griffith homered and was 2-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Adairsville offense. Six other Tigers were credited with one RBI each.
Carter and Hunter Hice both went 2-for-3. One of Carter’s hits was a double. Sam Seaman, Drake Arp, Dylan Hightower, and Noah O’Kelley each contributed a hit.
Kyler Pelfrey (2.2 IP, 4H, 8R, 7ER, 3BB, 3K) started on the mound for Adairsville. Taylor Whitley (0.0 IP, 1BB, 1H), O’Kelley (2.1 IP, 0R, 1H, 5K), and Carter (2 IP, 0R, 0BB, 2K) worked in relief.
Kyle Herrod had two hits for the Warriors. Kaleb Sowder, Dylan Hughes, Adam Wright, and Hadyn Griffin had the other LFO hits.
The Warriors used four pitchers. Ethan Daniel, who did not retire a batter in the seventh was saddled with the pitching loss.
Adairsville entertains Cass (Sat March 12, 4pm) and Armuchee (Mon March 14, 5:30pm) before playing three straight region games. The Tigers play region foes North Murray at home Tuesday, March 15; home against Coahulla Creek March 17; and at Sonoraville Friday, March 18. The start time for all three region games is 5:55pm.
