Tigers win at LFO in PK shootout.

The Adairsville boys soccer team won in dramatic style Tuesday night, defeating Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on the road in a penalty kicks shootout. The game was a scoreless draw through regulation time and two five minute overtimes, sending the region contest to a penalty kicks tie-breaker. Danny Carillo, Jesus Garcia, and Salvador Grimaldo Jr., all converted on their PK shootout attempts for the Tigers to escape with a 3-2 win. "B.J. Hardman had a tremendous game in goal," said Adairsville coach Kelly Abernathy.

Hardman made eight saves in regulation and overtime, plus three dramatic saves in the shootout.

"The core of the defense had an outstanding game as well," noted Abernathy. "Gideon Perez, Austin Barry, Ari Longmore, and Joseph Pacheco played most of the game, but we had several subs that solidified the defense throughout the night."

Adairsville (6-1 overall, 1-0 in Region 6AAA) took 20 shots on goal in regulation and overtime. "The offense deserves credit too," added Abernathy. "We were productive, offensively, and controlled play and possession for most of the game."

The Tigers entertain Coahulla Creek Thursday night (March 10).
