Cartersville soccer teams defeat Sprayberry


Marissa Mowry scored three goals and had one assist in a 4-1 Cartersville girls soccer win Friday over Sprayberry.


Mowry scored in the 18th, 26th, and 60th minutes, then assisted Courtney Rhea’s goal in the 78th minute.


Lady Canes’ goalkeeper, Abby Robinson, had 12 saves in the victory.


Cartersville (4-1) face Southeast Whitfield Tuesday.



The Cartersville boys soccer team defeated Sprayberry Friday night, 3-1.


The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring in the opening five minutes, but Cartersville bounced back with three unanswered goals.


Grant Farmer scored in the game’s 15th minute off an assist by Rhett Pasley, then the Canes went ahead on a goal by Cesar Abeja off a corner kick from Osbaldo Cinderos in the 27th minute.


Cartersville’s Pedro Robledo scored on a penalty kick in the 74th minute to round out the scoring.


Marvin Osario picked up the win in goal stopping 15 shots.


The Canes are now 5-1 and face Southeast Whitfield on Tuesday.
