Canes soccer opens 2016 season with road win
The Cartersville boys soccer team opened the 2016 season Friday with a 4-0 win at North Cobb Christian.
The Canes took a 1-0 lead to the intermission. The only score of the opening half came in the 29th minute on a cross to Jake Hacker from Cesar Abeja.
In the 43rd minute, Pedro Robledo gave the Canes a 2-0 lead after he intercepted a pass at 25 yards out and eventually found the corner of the net.
Osbaldo Senderos added Cartersville’s third goal on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute and Blake Cheek added a final goal on an assist from Edwin Betancort in the 66th minute.
Cartersville (1-0) hosts Darlington next Wednesday.
