Six local wrestlers reach state finals

Fifteen local high school wrestlers remain in contention for third place or better at the Georgia High School Association Traditional State Wrestling Championships at Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth.

Six locals will take the mat Saturday afternoon in state title matches. Woodland leads the local charge with eight wrestlers continuing on the final day of the three-day event. Kyle Golhoffer (106), Logan Sims (132), Cody Cochran (152), and Nick May (Heavyweight) will all be in their respective weight class finals. Cass has four wrestlers moving into Saturday’s action. The Colonels’ Tripp Breeden (195) and Hunter Quinn (138) will be in the Class AAAAA finals. Adairsville advanced two wrestlers to the consolation semifinals and Cartersville had one.

The consolation semifinals are scheduled to begin Saturday at 9:30am. The consolation finals will follow at 11am. The championship matches for all classifications will begin at 3pm.
