Tigers overcome slow start, advance in 6AAA tourney
ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 51, GORDON CENTRAL 46
The Adairsville boys were held scoreless in the first quarter of their Region 6AAA tournament first round game Monday night in Ringgold, but the Tigers poured in 40 points over the next two quarters on their way to a 51-46 victory over Gordon Central.
The Tigers trailed 9-0 after one quarter, but cut the deficit to 22-20 by the intermission.
Adairsville took a 40-38 lead after three quarters and held off the Warriors in the fourth to advance to Tuesday night’s second round against third-seeded Sonoraville at 8:30pm.
Cole Hewitt led Adairsville with 15 points, followed by Ronald Hardin with 12. Cody Henderson scored nine for the Tigers. Hunter Hice totaled seven points, Juan Perez tallied four, with Bryce Holland and Grayson Dailey adding two apiece.
Jonathan Nesbitt scored a game-high 23 points to lead Gordon Central. Seth Culpepper scored 15.
Gordon Central’s season finished with a 4-21 record. Adairsville is now 8-18.
