Beasley to deal with shoulder in off season

Vic Beasley wrapped up his NFL rookie season Sunday with the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome in a 20-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Beasley did not add to his individual stat line and the Falcons finished the year 8-8.

Atlanta also missed the playoffs for the third straight season after beginning the year with five straight wins and six victories in their first seven games.

Beasley, as we now know, has been dealing with a torn labrum in his right shoulder throughout the 2015 season. He managed the injury all year and did not miss any of the Falcons’ 16 games.

According to reports from Michael Cunningham of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, off-season surgery has not been ruled out for Beasley.

“It’s a day-by-day thing,” Beasley said Monday as players cleaned out their lockers following the end of their season. “I haven’t decided if I will have the surgery or not. If I don’t, I will just rehab it.” Beasley finished the season with 26 tackles, four sacks, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and an interception in his first NFL season. His best game came on Dec. 27 against the then-undefeated Carolina Panthers when he recorded four tackles, a sack, and forced a fumble.

It was a solid year for the former Adairsville Tiger and Clemson All-American. Falcons' officials were publicly pleased with his performance, but the Falcons’ 2015 first round pick will look to make an even bigger impact in his second year.
