Lawrence, Forristall honored by USA Today
Accolades continue to roll in for the 2015 Cartersville Purple Hurricanes football team. Sophomore quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, was selected Offensive Player of the Year for the USA TODAY All-USA Georgia football team released this weekend. Senior tight end teammate and Alabama commit, Miller Forristall, was also selected to the All-USA Georgia second team offense.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Rush Propst, Colquitt County (Moultrie)
With Propst at the helm, Colquitt County has been literally unstoppable the past two seasons, going 15-0 each year en route to consecutive Class AAAAAA state crowns. The 30-game winning streak is the third longest in state history. Colquitt County finished the season ranked No. 2 in the Super 25.
OFFENSE
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Trevor Lawrence, Cartersville
Lawrence led Cartersville to a perfect 15-0 season capped by the Class AAAA state title. He totaled 3,522 yards through the air with a ridiculous 42:4 touchdown to interception ratio. Widely regarded as the nation’s top gunslinger in the Class of 2018, Lawrence already has offers from the likes of Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Tennessee.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Derrick Brown, Lanier (Sugar Hill)
Already firmly entrenched as the best defensive lineman in Georgia, Brown made the case that he should be considered the No. 1 D-line recruit in the nation with a spectacular senior season. Brown recorded 106 tackles (42 for loss), 12 sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a blocked punt this fall. The U.S. Army All-American has a top five of Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
