Woodland wrestles for state title again Saturday
The Woodland wrestling team will wrestle for the state championship for a sixth consecutive season Saturday when they hit the mats at the Macon Centreplex against defending state champion, Camden County, at 3 p.m.
The second-seeded Wildcats reached the GHSA Class AAAAA title rematch with victories over Effingham County (57-18), Jones County (53-18), and Allatoona (56-12).
Cass remains in contention for one of the top spots at the state tournament despite losing in the championship quarterfinals to Clarke Central, 29-28.
The Colonels have tournament wins over Dunwoody (35-25), Heritage-Conyers (49-18), and Starr’s Mill (47-18) and have reached the consolation bracket’s semifinal round. Cass has clinched a top five finish and needs two wins Saturday to place third.
