Canes edged in OT

ROME BOYS 79, CARTERSVILLE 76 (OT)

The Canes trailed by nine entering the second half Saturday night at Rome, but rallied to send the game into overtime. Kobie Whitfield, who scored 20 points, hit a three-pointer at the buzzer in regulation to extend the game. Rome was still able to escape with a win in the overtime period.

Cartersville is now 11-5 on the year and plays Monday at Woodland (7 pm) and Tuesday at Northwest Whitfield (7:30pm). Rome improved to 10-8 with the victory.

ROME GIRLS 52, CARTERSVILLE 27

Rome improved to 12-6 overall with a non-region win over visiting Cartersville. The Lady Canes play at Woodland Monday (5:30pm) and Tuesday at Northwest Whitfield at 6pm.
