Woodland wrestling team wins McCallie Invitational
Woodland wrestling won the prestigious McCallie School Invitational Saturday in Chattanooga by outdistancing second place Oak Mountain (AL) by 36 team points. Woodland finished with 196.5 points, followed by Oak Mountain with 160.5, host McCallie (TN) 151.5, Lambert 150, and Union Grove 148 rounded out the top five. Cass placed tenth in the tournament of 27 schools with 126 team points.
Woodland had four wrestlers to qualify for the finals and two third place finishers.
Freshman Kyle Gollhofer won the 113-pound weight class, freshman Gavin Nix was a runner-up in the 106-pound division, Jahvar Lewis finished second at 120, Cody Cochran was runner-up at 160. Spencer Cooper finished third in the 152-pound division. Hunter Hardin and Kyle Veley (138-pounds) also finished third for the Wildcats.
For Cass, Hunter Quinn was a tournament runner-up in the 145-pound class. Tripp Breeden finished in fourth place in the 195-pound division. Devin Garrett was sixth at 113 pounds. Jaylen Callahan was sixth at 152 pounds and Seven Richards finished sixth in the 285 pound class.
