Canes advance to tourney semifinals with Saturday afternoon win

Jaylon Pugh scored 21 and Cade Archer 19 as Cartersville defeated Paulding County 74-48 in the opening round of the North Paulding Better Basketball Christmas Classic. Pugh scored the game-high on six three pointers and added five rebounds.

Kobie Whitfield scored 12 points for Cartersville and T.J. Horton added eight.

The Canes improved to 4-1 on the season with the victory. Paulding County fell to 1-10 on the year.

Cartersville will face Creekview (6-5) Monday night at 7pm in the holiday tournament semifinals at North Paulding Hugh School. Creekview defeated Lassiter in the first round Saturday afternoon.
