Lady Eagles win Saturday
The Excel Lady Eagles improved to 5-3 on the year Saturday night with a 54-16 win over visting St. Anne-Pacelli of Columbus. Rylie Boston and Kalli Beth Scheff led Excel with 10 points each.
Excel jumped to an 18-3 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The Lady Eagles led 26-8 at halftime, and 39-11 after three periods on their way to the 38 point victory. Whitney Harris 9, Brighton McCollum 8, Xena Enos 7, Camille Borkowsky 6, and Anna Lane Hattaway 4 rounded out the ECA scoring.
Rita de Rojas led St. Anne-Pacelli with 13 points. Meg Torbert added 3. The Lady Vikings remained winless on the season at 0-7.
Tre Sudberry scored 30 points, including 10 in overtime, as St. Anne-Pacelli edged Excel 70-61 in the boys’ game.
Excel took at 15-8 lead after one period, but the Vikings tied the game at the intermission at 23. The Vikings took a 43-38 lead into the final period, but the Eagles managed to send the game to overtime at 56-all.
Chris Hale led Excel with 22 points. Darius Thrower and Caleb West were also in double figures for the Eagles with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Latrel Jones added 8 points and Max Rowland had four.
Besides Sudsberry’s performance, the Vikings received 14 points from Triston Wells, followed by Armon Prophet with 10, Dre Bowman and Trevor Rice scored 8 each.
The Vikings improved to 5-2 on the season. Excel slipped to 4-4.
The ECA teams will host North Springs Tuesday (Dec. 15) and will play in the North Paulding Better Basketball Christmas Classic starting Saturday (Dec. 19). The Lady Eagles open the tournament against Lassiter. The Eagles will open the tournament against host, North Paulding.
CALHOUN GIRLS 74, ADAIRSVILLE 47
Jana Johns scored 18 points, while Ashlyn Barnes and Ryan Brzozski finished with 12 and 10 points for Calhoun. Adairsville was led by Havyn Isaac’s 13 points. The Lady Tigers fell to 1-7 and have road games this week at Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe Tuesday, at Cass Friday, and at Fannin County Saturday. CALHOUN BOYS 64, ADAIRSVLLLE 30
Chapin Rierson and Ray Reeves scored 12 points each to lead Calhoun. Dylan Greeson netted 11 and Kaelan Riley added nine points and ten rebonds for Calhoun. The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0. The Tigers fell to 1-5 and have three road games this week. Adairsville plays at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Tuesday, at Cass Friday, and at Fannin County Saturday.
