Davis, Mosby, and Tobin key as Chattahoochee Tech improves to 11-1
SMYRNA, Ga. – Chattahoochee Tech men’s hoops improved to 11-1 with a 99-73 win over Gadsden (Ala.) State on Wednesday night at the Smyrna Community Center. Freshman forward Keith Ray (Hillgrove H.S.) scored a game-high 26 points, including 17 in the second half, to help Chatt Tech turn an eight-point halftime lead into a 26-point win.
The Golden Eagles hosted the Cardinals after meeting previously in Alabama in November, also a Chattahoochee Tech win.
In addition to his 26 points, Ray added seven rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals while shooting 9-of-15 from the floor (2-of-5 from three) in the men’s win. Ryan Davis (Cartersville) scored 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting along with a game-high 10 rebounds, and A.J. Mosby (Cartersville) had 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Trevin Steede (Wheeler) and Jordan Oliver (Rabun County) each had 10.
Arthur Bennett (McEachern) had eight points and six rebounds. Corey Tobin (Cartersville) added nine points on 3-of-7 shooting from three, and Nick Hughes (Harrison) pulled down eight rebounds.
The Golden Eagles travel to Central Georgia Tech in Warner Robins this Saturday for womens' and mens' games starting at 1 and 3 p.m. The contests will be the second GCAA conference matchup for the men (1-0 with a win over East Georgia State). The trip will mark the last games for each team in the calendar year, with conference play picking back up on Jan. 6 for the men with away contest at Gordon State. Photo courtesy David Archer, Jr.
