Tigers nab first win, Lady Tigers fall at Rockmart


Adairsville basketball came away with a split at Rockmart Saturday night. The Tigers started slowly, but rallied in the final period for a 54-51 win. The Lady Tigers did the opposite, starting quickly before letting one get away in the second half, 54-50. The Tigers managed only three first quarter points and trailed 18-16 at halftime, but remained steady through the third quarter and outdistanced the Yellow Jackets in the final quarter, 22-15, to escape with a three point victory. Cole Hewitt led Adairsville with 14 points. Hunter Hice and Cody Henderson also

reached double figures with 12 and 10. Ronald Hardin scored 9 for the Tigers, while James Sims and Grayson Dailey rounded out the scoring with 4 and 3 point, respectively. The win improves Adairsville's record to 1-2 for the season. Rockmart is 0-4.


The Lady Tigers raced to a 21-9 lead after one period and maintained that advantage at halftime, 30-18. Rockmart narrowed the Lady Tigers' lead to nine after three quarters and salvaged a win over Adairsville by outscoring the Lady Tigers 19-8 in the fourth quarter.


Victoria Davis and Logan O'Neal scored 10 points each for Adairsville. Emily Collum 9, Josie Summerfield 7, Zay Harris 6, Nakiyah Washington 6, and Havyn Isaac 2 had the other Lady Tigers' points. The Lady Jackets evened their season record at 2-2. The Lady Tigers fell to 0-4.


The Lady Tigers and Tigers begin a stretch of eight straight road games Tuesday at Sonoraville, Friday at Coahulla Creek, and Saturday at Calhoun.
