Hoops roundup: Wildcats, Lady Eagles win in overtime


WOODLAND BOYS 71, PEPPERELL 62 (Overtime)

The Wildcats defeated Pepperell in overtime 71-62. Jonathan Pritchett had 24 for Woodland, followed by John Adams with 15, and Brady Jernigan with 10.


Woodland (2-3) plays at Rome Tuesday (Dec. 8) and hosts Sequoyah Friday (Dec. 11)

PEPPERELL GIRLS 55, WOODLAND 29 The Lady Wildcats fell to 1-4 on the season with a loss in Lindale. Pepperell evened its season mark at 2-2.

NORTH MURRAY BOYS 63, ADAIRSVILLE 52 The Adairsville boys trailed North Murray by 16 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but fought back to narrow the gap to four with 46.7 seconds remaining. The Tigers missed back-to-back three point attempts before the Mountaineers were able to put the game away with free throws down the stretch.


Adairsville (0-2): Ronald Hardin 12, Juan Perez 10, Bryce Holland 8, Cody Henderson 7, Hunter Hice 6, Ethan Belcher 5, James Sims 2. North Murray (4-1): Gage Early 12, Jordan Couch 11 Adairsville hosts Rockmart Saturday (4:30pm) and travels to Sonoraville Tuesday (7:30pm).

NORTH MURRAY GIRLS 70, ADAIRSVILLE 54 Kailee Tipton scored 20, Katelyn Crumbley 13, and Sarah Plemons 12 to lead the Lady Mountaineers. Adairsville got 17 from Josie Summerville. Havyn Isaac added 13 and Victoria Davis scored 12 for the Lady Tigers. Nikiyah Washington 4, Aimee Pacheco 3, Taylor Greene 2, and Zay Harris 1 also scored for Adairsville. North Murray improved to 3-1. Adairsville is 0-4.

ROME BOYS 74, CASS 56

ROME GIRLS 57, CASS 40

Rome improved to 4-2. Cass Lady Colonels slipped to 4-2.

WALKER BOYS 60, EXCEL CHRISTIAN 56 Excel lost for the first time this season, on the road in Marietta at Walker. The game was tied at halftime and tight throughout. The Wolverines held a one point lead after three quarters and outscored the Eagles 22-19 in the fourth quarter. Excel is now 3-1 for the year. Walker improved to 5-1. The Eagles visit Temple Saturday.


EXCEL CHRISTIAN GIRLS 44, WALKER 40 (2 OT)


The Lady Eagles battled through two overtimes to edge Walker Friday night, 44-40. Xena Enos (13), Brighton McCollum (12), and Rylie Boston (12) led ECA with double figures scoring. Kalli Beth Scheff and Anna Lane Hattaway added four and three points, respectively. Excel evened its record at 2-2. Walker is now 3-3. The Lady Eagles face Temple Saturday at 2:30pm.
