Lady Colonels, Lady Canes open with wins

The Cass and Cartersville girls basketball teams opened their seasons Saturday with convincing victories. Cass won at East Paulding, 61-37, in a regular season game. Cartersville defeated Adairsville 84-49 at the Pepperell Thanksgiving Tournament.

Jana Morning scored 19 points to lead the Lady Colonels. She was followed by Payton Stoddard with 9, Kyla Michienzi 8, Lexy Wallraven 6, Alexis Ware 6, Hayley Gildersleeve 5, Jaclyn Hazelwood 4, and Esmeralda Thomas 4. The Lady Colonels' next game will be in the Southeast Whitfield Thanksgiving Classic Wednesday in Dalton at 6pm. The Lady Canes play Sonoraville Tuesday at 5:30 in the Pepperell Tournament. Adairsville (0-1) will play North Paulding on Monday at the Pepperell event.
