Bartow 10U and 12U youth football teams fall in District play, but advance to state tournament
The 10U and 12U youth football all star teams for the Bartow County Recreation Department both fell in the semifinal round of the 2015 Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) District 5 playoffs, but both will advance to the state playoffs in Dalton December 5-6. Cedartown defeated the 10U Bartow all stars 28-0 Thursday night, while the 12U Bartow team was edged by Rockmart 16-12.
10U results November 19 at Cedartown CEDARTOWN 28 BARTOW 0 Harlem Diamond had two rushing touchdowns and returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown to lead Cedartown to victory in the District 5 GRPA semifinals. Diamond finished with 177 yards rushing for Cedartown. Chris Roper had 52 yards rushing and Devin Henderson had 22 yards rushing for Bartow in the loss. Henderson led the Bartow defense with 8 tackles. Travis Hayworth made six tackles, Collin Fletcher, Evan Sanders, and Roper totaled five, three, and two tackles, respectively. Cedartown advanced to Saturday's championship against Calhoun at Calhoun High School. 12U results November 19 ROCKMART 16 BARTOW 12 Details to be added when available.
