Fields qualifies for NCAA D-III Championship; other locals making marks with their college programs

CROSS COUNTRY SPENCER FIELDS — Rhodes College (Fr., Kingston, GA; Darlington School) … qualified as an individual runner for the NCAA Division III National Championships by placing ninth at the South/Southeast Regional at Kernstown Battlefield in Virginia. His 8K time at the regional was 26:20.9. The Rhodes College team just missed qualifying for Nationals. The Lynx finished fourth behind Emory University, Christopher Newport University, and Trinity University. The Division III National Championship is Saturday, November 21 at Lake Breeze in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
VOLLEYBALL
KATIE O’CONNOR — Western Carolina (MB, Soph., Cartersville HS) … had seven kills, a dig, and a block in a five set loss to Samford November 13. O'Connor added six kills, a dig, and a pair of blocks in a home, five set loss to Chattanooga. WCU (11-21, 5-11) begins play in the Southern Conference tournament Nov. 21.
SWIMMING
ELISE HART — Air Force Academy (Soph., Sprint-Free/Fly/Back, Cartersville HS) … continues to compete in multiple events for the Falcons. She was a member of the fifth place 200 yard medley relay team, was tenth in the 100 yard backstroke, tenth in the 50 yard freestyle, and seventh in the 100 yard freestyle. The Falcons are now 8-6 overall this season and travel to the Purdue Invitational, Nov. 20-22, in West Lafayette, IN.
MATTHEW SINIARD — Berry College (Sr., Free/Fly sprints, Cartersville HS) … finished third in the 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard free style, and was a member of the third place 200 yard freestyle relay team in a narrow win over Sewanee, University of the South November 13. Siniard was eighth in the 200 yard freestyle, tenth in the 50 yard freestyle, eighth in the 100 yard freestyle, and was a member of the third place 200 yard freestyle relay team as the Vikings split duals November 14 in Birmingham. Berry defeated Rhodes College 158-111, but lost to Birmingham Southern College 176.5 - 101.5. The Vikings travel to Gainesville, GA Friday and Saturday to compete in the Brenau Invitational.
ROBYN ELLENBURG — Berry College (Jr., Free/Back sprints, mids, Cass HS) … was a member of the third place 200 yard freestyle relay team, fourth in the 100 yard freestyle, and was a member of the fifth place 200 yard medley relay team in a 119-113 win November 13 over Sewanee, The University of the South. Ellenburg was seventh in the 200 yard freestyle at dual meet losses to Birmingham Southern and Rhodes College November 14 in Birmingham. The Lady Vikings compete November 20-21 at the Brenau Invitational in Gainesville, GA.
WRESTLING
EVAN COLE — Cumberland University (Soph., 149 Wt. Class, Cartersville HS) … went 4-1 to place third in his weight division November 8 at the Georgia College Open at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA. Cole lost both matches November 14 in the Bulldogs’ 40-7 win over Southeastern University and 49-0 loss to Chattanooga. Cumberland travels to Raleigh, NC to wrestle in the Wolfpack Duals at N.C. State Saturday, November 21. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face Anderson University, UNC-Pembroke, and N.C. State. The duals continue on Sunday, Nov. 22.
BASKETBALL
RYAN DAVIS -- Chattahoochee Tech CC (So., G, Cartersville HS) ... averaging 12.5 points, 3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the Golden Eagles first two games. Davis shot almost 60 percent from the field and over 71 percent from the free throw line. Data for wins over Southern Crescent Tech and Cincinnati State Tech and CC were not available. CTCC has since improved to 4-0 and plays at Gadsden State CC Nov. 18 before participating in the Georgia Highlands Classic Nov. 20-21. A.J. MOSBY -- Chattahoochee Tech CC (So., G, Cartersville HS) ... averaged 14 points on a 60 percent field goal percentage, 3.5 rebounds, and 4 assists in victories over Summer Hill Academy and West Georgia Tech logging 41 minutes. Data for wins over Southern Crescent Tech and Cincinnati State Tech and CC were not available. CTCC has now improved to 4-0 and plays at Gadsden State CC Nov. 18 before participating in the Georgia Highlands Classic Nov. 20-21.

The Golden Eagles (4-0) play at Gadsden State CC Nov. 18 before participating in the Georgia Highlands Classic Nov. 20-21.
STEPHANIE KUHRT -- Reinhardt University (So., G, Adairsville HS) ... averaged 1.5 ponts and 17.5 minutes with a pair of rebounds and assists in appearances against Middle Georgia State and Bob Jones University. The Lady Eagles are 2-2 and are scheduled to travel to Point University November 18 and host Bryan College Saturday, Nov. 21.
SYDNEY BOYD — Brewton-Parker College (Fr., G, Woodland HS) … averaging 4.2 points per game, 1 rebound, and 0.2 steals through the Lady Barons' first six games. BPC lost to Selma University November 9 and defeated Thomas University 76-65 November 11.
KAELYN IRBY — Gadsden State CC (Soph., G, Cartersville HS) … has scored 14.5 points per game and has 5 rebounds per game through three starts. GSCC is 1-2 with a win over Columbia State CC and losses to South Georgia Tech and Motlow State CC. They host Chattahoochee Tech CC November 16, Georgia Highlands CC November 18 and Wallace-Selma CC November 21.
MAYA JONES — Gadsden State CC (Soph, F, Cartersville HS) … averaging 1 point and 1 rebound per game through three contests. GSCC is 1-2 on the season. They host Chattahoochee Tech CC November 16, Georgia Highlands CC November 18 and Wallace-Selma CC November 21.
MORGAN JONES — Gadsden State CC (Soph., F, Cartersville HS) … scored 7 points per game and six rebounds per game as Gadsden State has started 1-2. The win was over Columbia State CC with losses to South Georgia Tech and Motlow State CC. They host Chattahoochee Tech CC November 16, Georgia Highlands CC November 18 and Wallace-Selma CC November 21.
