Tigers qualify for Class AAA state meet; Woodland's Scifers earns spot in AAAAA state meet


The Adairsville boys cross country team qualified for the 2015 GHSA Class AAA state meet Wednesday at Coahulla Creek. The Tigers finished fourth at the Region 6AAA championship meet.


Woodland's Lindsay Scifers also qualified as an individual for the Class AAAAA meet Nov. 7 in Carrollton, following her finish at the Region 7-AAAAA meet in Canton.


Coahulla Creek won the 6-AAA region title, followed by Calhoun, Murray County, and Adairsville. Gordon Central, Sonoraville, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, North Murray, and Ringgold rounded out the field.


Walt Douglas of Coahulla Creek won the individual race in 16:50.70.


Sophomores Daniel Sullivan (19:10.50) and Jason Burdette (19:12.80) led Adairsville finishing 19th and 20th, respectively. Dylan Coker was 22nd in 19:16.20, followed by teammates Jared Tatum (25th, 19:27.30), Spencer Rawlins (29th, 19:36.80), James Leker (32nd, 19:44.60), and Ayden Johnson (48th, 21:13.10).


The boys Class AAA state championship will be held at Carrollton High School, November 7 at 10:35am.


The Woodland girls team finished sixth and the Cass girls were 12th at the Region 7-AAAAA championships held at Boling Park in Canton.


Lindsay Scifers led the Lady Wildcats with a sixth place individual finish in 20:22.36. Teammate Cheyenne Spinks was 15th in 21:26.74. Elizabeth Roberson (32nd, 22:28.53), Casey Bolan (44th, 23:05.27), and Makenna Eskew (50th, 23:25.04) rounded out the Woodland finishers.


Jana Morning led the Lady Colonels with an 11th place individual finish in 20:54.93. Esmeralda Thomas, Stephane Robledo, Miranda Degrauwe, and Lexie Wallentine rounded out the scoring for Cass.


Anna Hayden of Riverwood won the girls race in 19:19.11.


The Woodland boys team placed ninth and Cass was fourteenth.


Julian Rocket (12th, 17:16.47), Dustin Kiel (28th, 18:04.05), and Jonathan Holloway (30th, 18:07.72) led the Wildcat harriers. Jacob Giltz (59th, 18:46.21) and Levi Brandenburg (72nd, 19:27.64) rounded the Woodland scoring.


Ryan Dupree (62nd, 18:56.17) led the Colonels’ runners. He was followed by teammates Devon Martinez, Derick Smith, Michael Shaver, Tyler Smith, and NIck Poteat.


Will Hasse of Forsyth Central won the Region 7-AAAAA boys race in 16:30.17.
