Beasley, Fluellen face challenges this week with respective NFL clubs
After moving over to Detroit in midseason from Buffalo, former Cartersville Hurricane, Andre Fluellen, is part of a Lions’ defensive front that is battling through injuries and issues.
Fluellen has remained healthy, but was brought back to Detroit to help fill some gaps in their D-line rotation. Tyrunn Walker broke his leg at the beginning of the season and was a starter. He was replaced by Gabe Wright, but Wright is a healthy scratch for this week’s game. Khyri Thornton was picked up off waivers last week, but he too is a healthy inactive along with defensive tackle Gabe Wright.
Based on those personnel moves, Fluellen will remain a big part of the Lions’ front line rotation.
Fluellen, in his seventh NFL season, has three tackles for the Lions in action over the past two weeks against Chicago and Minnesota.
The Lions (1-6) are playing the Kansas City Chiefs this week in Wembley Stadium in London, scheduled for a 9:30am ET kickoff.
Former Adairsville Tigers standout and current Atlanta Falcons’ rookie pass rusher, Vic Beasley, Jr., has recently acknowledged he needs to pick up his pass rush production.
Beasley has recorded 17 tackles, 2 sacks, a forced fumble, and one pass defended over the first seven weeks.
This week, Beasley will go head-to-head with Bucs’ tackles Gosder Cherilus and fellow rookie, Donovan Smith, trying to get to quarterback, Jameis Winston.
The Falcons (6-1) host Tampa Bay Sunday in The Georgia Dome at 1pm.
