Local high school football playoff update and current region standings
The 2015 region football standings updated for the GHSA regions that include local schools. In 7-AAAAA, the top 3 teams from each sub-region will square off Friday, Nov. 6 to determine the four state playoff teams.
Dalton has locked up Division A and will host the Division B winner for the region championship Nov. 6. The winner will be the No. 1 seed in the state playoff. The loser will be the No. 2 seed.
The Division B winner is still a mystery. Kell can create a three-way tie for the top spot with a victory at Sprayberry this Friday. Among the top three at this point, Cambridge beat Kell, Kell beat Riverwood, and Riverwood defeated Cambridge. If the race finishes in a three-way tie, Kell holds the tie-breaker.
The No. 3 and No. 4 state playoff spots will be settled with region playoff games hosted by teams in Division A. The second place Division A team will host the third place Division B team and the third place Division A team will host the second place Division B team. Last year, all the region playoff games were hosted by Division B.
Cass plays at Rome this Friday night. The winner will be the number 3 team in Division A. Creekview has locked up the second place spot in Division A.

In Region 7-AAAA, Cartersville, Pickens, and Northwest Whitfield appear to be in solid positions for the top three state playoff spots. Ridgeland is in position to nabbed the fourth spot if they can defeat Southeast and Lafayette the final two weeks. Heritage would jump in if Ridgeland stumbles.
In Region 6-AAA, Calhoun, Adairsville, and Sonoraville have firm holds on the top three spots. North Murray, Murray County, and Ringgold are all 3-3 in region play competing for the fourth spot over the final two weeks.
