Woodland cross country tunes up for region meet at Moonlight Miles
The Woodland High School cross country teams competed Tuesday evening at the Creekview Moonlight Miles Two-Mile Run. The event was a tuneup for next week's Region Championships. The Lady Cats were led by sophomore Lindsay Scifers third place finish in 12:24.46. Freshman Cheyenne Spinks was fifth in 12:42.02. Elizabeth Roberson (18th, 13:06.58), Casey Bolan (25th, 13:37.35), Makenna Eskew (37th, 14:31.19), Karla Alves (39th, 14:40.24), and Elizabeth Vasquez (41st, 14:53.14) rounded out the Woodland runners. Centennial won the girls' team event, followed by Creekview, and Chattahoochee. Woodland was fourth ahead of North Forsyth and River Ridge. Senior Julian Rocket led the Woodland boys team with a fourth place individual finish in 10:28.92. The Wildcats finished third as a team behind Creekview and Chattahoochee in the seven team event.
Other finishers for Woodland included freshman Dustin Kiel (9th, 10:42.34), Jonathan Holloway (14th, 10:58.42), Jacob Giltz (26th, 11:14.61), Alex Chavez (32nd, 11:24.00), Levi Brandenburg (34th, 11:25.78), and Thomas Jolly (36th, 11:31.42). Next for Wildcats and Lady Cats will be the Region 7-AAAAA Championships at Boling Park in Canton on Wednesday, October 28, 4:30pm.
