VOLLEYBALL
KATIE O’CONNOR — Western Carolina (MB, Soph., Cartersville HS) … 8 kills, 3 digs, and 2 blocks for 9 points in a straight sets loss to East Tennessee State Oct. 14….. 9 kills, 4 blocks, for 11 ponts in a four set win over The Citadel Oct. 16 ….. 7 kills and 4 blocks for 9 points in a four set loss to UNC-Greensboro Oct. 18. The Catamounts are now 8-17 overall and 2-7 in the Southern Conference. WCU plays at Wofford Oct. 23 and at East Tennessee State University Oct. 24.
KARLEE WINECOFF — Point University (OH/MH, Junior, Cass HS) … 2 kills, 1 dig, 2 blocks in a 3-0 loss at Milligan (TN) Oct. 16….. 8 kills, 5 digs, 5 blocks at Montreat (NC) Oct. 17 ….. 6 kills, 1 dig, 3 blocks in a narrow, five set loss at home to Bluefield (VA) Oct. 18.
SOCCER
STEPHANIE HICKS — Agnes Scott College (Forward, Sr., Woodland HS) … started, took 3 shots with 2 on goal in a 2-0 win over LaGrange College….. scored a goal on six shots with two on goal and had a goal assist in a 4-1 victory over Berea (KY). Agnes Scott is now 6-8-0 on the season. They play Judson (AL) Oct. 21, at Salem Oct. 24, and host Wesleyan (GA) Oct. 31 before hosting the GSAC Conference Tournament beginning November 6.
EMILY MOORE — Charleston Southern University (Defender, Jr., Woodland HS) … was a midfield starter and took one shot Oct 14 in a 2-0 win over Winthrop….. assisted on one goal in a 4-1 victory Oct 15 vs. Presbyterian ….. was a midfield starter in a 2-0 loss Oct. 17 to Longwood. Following the 2-1 conference homestand, the Lady Bucs are 6-6-2 overall and 3-4 in the Big South Conference. They travel to High Point Oct. 21 and host Gardner-Webb Sat., Oct. 24 before closing out the regular season Tue. Oct. 27 at Coastal Carolina.
CODY WEST — Duquesne University (Defender, R-Soph., Cass HS) … started and played all 90 minutes in a 3-0 loss at Michigan….. did not see action in a 0-0 home, overtime tie with Virginia Commonwealth University. The Dukes are now 3-8-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Duquesne has a conference game at George Mason Oct. 21 and hosts St. Bonaventure Oct. 24 in another A-10 match.
CROSS COUNTRY
SPENCER FIELDS — Rhodes College (Fr., Kingston, GA, Darlington HS) … ran 48th overall and second for the Lynx as the team finished 11th of 32 teams in the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin College. Rhodes returns to action October 31 when the Lynx compete at the Southern Athletic Association Championships in Danville, KY.
SAVANNAH HARDIN — Young Harris College (Fr., Cass HS) … was 75th overall and sixth on her team as the Mountain Lions posted a second place finish out of 15 teams at the Berry College Invitational Saturday Oct. 17. Hardin’s 5K time Saturday was 26:04.78. YHC returns to action Saturday (Oct. 24) in the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Championship in Gainesville, GA.
VICTORIA HICKOM — Georgia Southwestern State University (Soph., Cartersville HS) … ran 13th overall and fifth for the Lady Canes as they finished second of four teams at the Columbus State University Cougar Two-Mile Invite. Georgia Southwestern returns to action Saturday (Oct. 24) in the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Championship in Gainesville, GA.
