Adairsville rally falls short, but Lady Tigers advance to state

The Adairsville Lady Tigers lost 7-6 Wednesday night to Sonoraville at the Region 6-AAA tournament, but will advance to the Class AAA state tournament as the region's fourth seed as a result of Tuesday's 6-3 win over Murray County. The remainder of the seeding for the region is yet to be determined through tournament play. Ringgold, Calhoun, and Sonoraville remain alive in the double-elimination event heading into Thursday's games. Adairsville trailed Sonoraville 6-3 after six innings and rallied to tie Wednesday night's game 6-6 in the seventh, but the Lady Phoenix pushed across the deciding run in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Tigers will be on the road for their first round playoff best-of-three series. They will face the No. 1 seed from Region 7-AAA. The GHSA bracket has the opening round scheduled for a doubleheader on Wednesday, October 14 and a potential rubber game (if needed) on Thursday, October 15.
