Lady Tigers open region tourney Monday

The Adairsville Lady Tigers' softball team will open the Region 6AAA championship tournament Monday at Jack Mattox Park in Ringgold. Coach Kandace Bruno told Bartow Sports Zone Friday morning, the Lady Tigers will most likely be a No. 6 seed as the tournament opens and would face the Region's No. 7 seed in a first round game at 5pm. Seeding was not finalized at the time of this article, but Bartow Sports Zone will make updates as new information becomes available.

First round winners Monday play a second game Monday night. Opening round losers are relegated to the losers' bracket and continue play in the double-elimination tournament on Tuesday.

Calhoun and Ringgold are the favorites to meet in the finals of the Region 6AAA tournament based on regular season results. The top four finishers in the tournament will advance to the Class AAA state playoffs.

The tournament continues through next Thursday at Jack Mattox Park in Ringgold.
