Local softball teams continue battle for state playoff berths
Local high school softball teams head to the final week of the regular season and region tournaments begin as early as October 1.
Regions 6AAA (includes Adairsville) and 7AAAA (inclues Cartersville) have region tournaments that include all members. Region 7AAAAA (includes Woodland and Cass) has a region tournament, but only the top five teams from each sub-region advance to the region tournament. In Class A (includes Excel Christian Academy), region champions make the state playoffs and the remainder of the field is determined by GHSA’s power rating formula. Region 6A does not have a region tournament. The regular season determines the region champion.
