ECA softball drops pair of region games, remains in contention for state berth
The Excel Christian Academy softball team continues to battle for a potential state playoff berth, but fell in region games Monday and Tuesday to Christian Heritage and Mount Zion. ECA lost to Christian Heritage 5-2 Monday and Mount Zion 2-1 Tuesday.
With only eight regular season games remaining, each matchup in Class A hold importance since the classification utilizes the Georgia High School Association’s (GHSA) power rating system to determine the sixteen state playoff teams for softball.
There is no post-season region playoff tournament in ECA's Region 6-A. The Lady Eagles travel to Pinecrest Academy next Monday and host Trion on Tuesday.
The GHSA released its current power rating standings earlier this week and Excel Christian is currently 12th among Class A private schools. Below are the top 25 teams as of Monday's power ratings release. Rank... School... Region... Record... Rating
