Athletes Beyond Bartow -- Saturday football updates

UNC Charlotte -- Brooks Barden (R-Fr., Cartersville HS) split time at quarterback for the 49ers vs. Presbyterian College. He connected on 11 of 17 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. A 23-yard completion was his long for the day. Barden also ran 10 times for 30 yards including a 12-yard run.

UNC Charlotte — T.L. Ford (So., Cartersville HS) Caught two passes for 12 yards as UNC-Charlotte defeated Presbyterian College. Ford now has 7 catches for 89 yards in two wins. The 49ers play at Middle Tennessee next Saturday night.

Georgia State University — Tarris Batiste (Sr., Cass HS) had six tackles in a 34-32 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday. He had six solo tackles, one assist, and broke up two pass plays in home loss to UNC-Charlotte the week before.

Georgia -- Punter Collin Barber (Sr., Cartersville HS) vs. Vanderbilt had six punts for an average of 40.5 and only two kicks were returned for a total of 8 yards. He also handled some kickoff duties. His long punt vs. Vandy was 47 yards. In week one, a 51-14 victory over UL-Monroe he had 4 punts, 43.8 avg., 1 touchback, 2 inside 20, long of 50,

Air Force — Defensive back Hayes Linn (Jr., Cartersville HS) had one pass break up in a 37-16 win Saturday over San Jose State. The week before vs. Morgan State, Air Force won 63-7, Linn saw action in each of the first three quarters.

Maryville College -- Former Cass football defensive back, Da'Kelin Wells, starting at cornerback, had 3 tackles, one interception, and broke up another pass as the Scots defeated East Tennessee State University 28-21 in Johnson City. Wells had 2 tackles the previous Saturday in Maryville's 43-17 win over Berry College.

Point University -- Linebacker Isaiah Ross, (So., Cartersville HS) had three tackles including one for a loss in the Skyhawks' 36-33 loss to University of Pikeville on Saturday.
