Lady Colonels lose in 9th inning tie-breaker at Dalton
Hannah Lee allowed only two hits in 8 and one-third innings in the circle, but the Cass lost a sub-region game at Dalton Tuesday night, 4-3.
Using the international tie-breaker rule for extra innings, Dalton used a sacrifice and a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.
In extra innings,, the tie-breaker rule places the ninth batter due up that inning on second base to begin the frame.
Lee struck out six and walked only one. She also allowed only one earned run.
Cass (2-14 overall, 2-4 in 7-AAAAA-A) scored twice in the top of the fifth and once in the sixth to take a 3-1 lead, but Dalton tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth to send it to extra innings.
Sarah Moore had two hits for the Lady Colonels. Cat White had a hit and 2 RBI. Sierrah Gani drove in the other Colonels’ run and had a hit and two walks on the night. Sarah Fox scored twice and recorded a hit. Hannah Elrod had the remaining Cass hit.
The Lady Colonels travel to Woodstock to take on River Ridge Thursday at 5:45pm. They host Woodland next Tuesday (Sep 8) at 5:30pm.
