Woodland cross country teams compete at Battle of Atlanta
The Woodland cross country teams ran Saturday (Aug. 29) in the Saucony Battle of Atlanta at Nash Farms Battlefield in Hampton, GA.
The Lady Wildcats ran 22nd of 44 participating teams with a team average time of 22:59.
Marist won the girls championship with 82 points and an average time of 20:10. They were followed by Etowah (128, 20:36), Hebron Christian (190, 21:05), Parkview (209, 21:09) and McIntosh (233, 21:20). Nicole Fegans of Landmark Christian won the girls’ race in 18:53.
Lindsay Scifers (photo) led the Woodland runners with a 32nd place finish in 20:53. She was followed by teammates Cheyenne Spinks (78th, 21:57), Casey Bolan (157th, 23:39), Elizabeth Roberson (162nd, 23:48), Makenna Eskew (190th, 24:39), Ally Landrum (239th, 26:20), and McKaylie Bowles (274th, 27:30).
Mill Creek won the boys’ title with 85 points and an average time of 16:46. They were followed by Marist (120, 16:55), St. Pius X (130, 17:03), Auburn, AL (157, 17:07), and Whitewater (185, 17:16).
Frank Pittman of Marist won the boys' race in 15:53.
The Woodland boys’ team placed 29th of 51 teams with an average time of 19:15. The Wildcats were led by Jonathan Holloway. He placed 108th with a time of 18:28 ahead of teammates Jacob Glitz (157th, 19:00), Julian Rocket (175th, 19:16), Dioney Ochoa (193rd, 19:38), Dustin Kiel (205th, 19:52), Alex Chavez (215th, 19:58), and Levi Brandenburg (264th, 20:50). The Woodland harriers host the Run at the Rock Saturday, September 12 beginning at 9am.
