Cartersville, Adairsville earn region softball wins; Cass falls to Creekview
ADAIRSVILLE 8, LAKEVIEW-FORT OGLETHORPE 5
The Lady Tigers scored twice in the third and six in the sixth for an 8-5 victory at LFO.
Baily Robinson drove in the go-ahead runs in the sixth and Loren Harris had four RBI on a pair of hits to lead the Tigers' offense. Hannah Knapp and Haven Isaac also had two hits. Alyssa Hughs scattered seven hits and allowed only 3 earned runs for the pitching victory. She walked three and struck out three.
Next week, Adairsville hosts Gordon Central Monday (Aug 31), travels to Coahulla Creek Tuesday (Sep 1), and hosts Calhoun on Thursday (Sep 3).
CARTERSVILLE 3, PICKENS 2
Madison McKinney drove in the go-ahead run for Cartersville in the sixth inning as the Lady Purple Hurricanes defeated region foe, Pickens. McKinney finished the contest with 2 RBI. Paris Poston drove in the other Cartersville run. Molly Wilson, Kennedy Bailey, and Colbi Ballard had the other Canes hits. Ballard (6 IP, 8H, 1ER, 2BB, 2K) picked up the pitching victory. Tara Mathis also worked in the circle for a scoreless frame, recording one strikeout.
Cartersville has games against North Cobb, Lowndes, South Cobb, and TBA in an invitational tournament this weekend.
CREEKVIEW 7, CASS 0
Pitcher Bethany Hyde of Creekview struck out eight with no walks and yielded only one hit to shutout the Lady Colonels Thursday night.
Cat White had the only hit for Cass -- a second inning single. Creekview scored twice in the bottom of the second, added single runs in the third and fourth, and closed out the scoring with three runs in the fifth inning.
Hannah Lee suffered the pitching loss for Cass, but allowed only two earned runs off eight hits and four walks. She struck out two.
Cass plays Friday and Saturday in the Allatoona Tournament. The Lady Colonels face River Ridge and South Cobb at Stars Mill Friday (Aug 28) and meet South Paulding, Ridgeland, and Camden County Saturday at South Paulding.
