Bartow 10U softball with pitching machine edged in state tourney opener

The Bartow County Recreation Department 10 and under girls with pitching machine all stars were three outs away from an opening round victory in the GRPA State Tournament at Effingham County on Wednesday (July 8), but were edged in the final inning.. With Bartow leading Thomasville YMCA 11-10 going to their final frame, Thomasville rallied for two runs to pull out the victory 12-11. Bartow had 20 hits in the contest. Thomasville totaled 14.

For Bartow, Amaya Ford went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Alyssa Jarrett went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Haley Dishmon, Harley Owens (RBI), Emma Hensley (RBI), Malaney Teems, Savannah Jordan, and Kelly Young all went 2-for-4. Bartow will now play Pooler in an elimination game Thursday morning (July 9). The winner of that contest will face the winner of Washington County and Coffee County later in the day.
