Bartow 8U softball advances to final four at Dizzy Dean state tourney
The 8 and under Bartow softball all-stars won three times in elimination games Saturday (June 27) to make the final four teams at the 8U Dizzy Dean softball state tournament in Carroll County. Bartow defeated host Carroll County 12-3, North Hall 12-4, and Jackson County 18-7. Bartow will face the winner of Gordon County/North Hall at 1:30pm Sunday as the double-elimination (with three game guarantee) tournament continues. Bremen and Summerville remain the only unbeaten teams heading into Sunday play. Those two teams play Sunday (June 28) at 10:30am and the winner locks down a spot in the championship. Bartow bounced back from a 16-15 opening round loss Friday night to Gordon County that relegated them to the losers' bracket and all elimination games for the remainder of their tournament. Leading hitters for Bartow against North Hall were Naxyria Roberts 3-for-4, Alana Carnes 3-for-4, Marly Pruitt 2-for-4, Kate Self 2-for-4, Elizabeth Hartsfield 2-for-4, and Haley Powell 2-for-4.
Leading hitters for Bartow against Jackson County were Haley Collum, Elizabeth Hartsfield and Kamryn Smith 3-for-5, Marley Pruitt, Kaitlyn Arnold, Alana Carnes, Jordan Hammonds, and Harley Powell 2-for-5 each.
Leading hitters in the 3rd game of the day against Carroll County were Naxyria Roberts, Haley Collum, and Marly Pruitt 3-for-5 each. Lanye Callan was 3-for-4 and Erin McCrary went 2-for-4.
