Chargers eliminated at conference tourney
The Georgia Highlands baseball team finished the regular season strong, qualified for the final conference playoff spot, and even knocked off Georgia Perimeter College in their opening game of the 2015 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. That hot streak, unfortunately, came to a close Thursday (May 7) with a pair of tournament losses.
Coach Mike Marra’s Chargers fell to the tournament losers’ bracket with a 4-1 loss to South Georgia and were later eliminated from the post season by West Georgia Tech 4-2.
The Chargers season ended with a 26-26 record.
Host Darton State and South Georgia remained the only unbeaten teams in the tournament heading into Friday (May 8). Those two play the opening game of the day with the winner advancing to the conference finals on Saturday.
West Georgia Tech and ABAC remain alive in the losers’ bracket and would each need to win four more elimination games to take the conference crown.
